Yellow Banks Groves
Yellow Banks Groves is a small ice cream shop in Largo, Florida that has been in business since the 1950s. Their logo was very true to that era and the website hadn’t been updated since it was first made in the early 2000s. Until now.
The Logo
One of the most important parts of rebranding a company is being able to not lose track of its roots. That was one of the most important factors that I kept in mind while creating the modern logo. I wanted the bold text and to stick to the color palette that the store had already going on. I also wanted the logo to quickly communicate the most important part of the business, the oranges!
The Envelopes
Of course, what is a nice letterhead without an equally enticing envelope to accompany it?
This envelope is simple, clean, and versatile. It can be used to send out letters, to hold thank you notes in each order, and even to package up gift cards in a cute way.
The Packaging
My personal favorite of this project was designing a new carton for the fresh orange juice that is sold in the store. This carton is so unique because of its whimsical and bright design. It’s bold while still being modern and cute.
The Business Cards
Business cards are often a customer’s first impression of a business so it is integral that they communicate all the needed information clearly and at a glance. If a card isn’t exciting enough, many customers will throw it away without a second glance.
That idea is what drew me to 2x2 square cards with rounded edges rather than the traditional rectangular card. Rounded edges tend to withstand the wear and tear of being stuffed into a wallet better than pointed edges and, being a different shape and a bright color, this card is less likely to be ignored in a pile.
The Letterhead
Every company needs a good letterhead. With such a vibrant and fun theme for Yellow Banks, I knew an eye-catching letterhead was a must. I found inspiration in their most popular item, an ice cream cone of half vanilla and half sherbet. I created a “swirl” effect to bring attention to the top of the letterhead and to frame the logo. The design left the perfect area to place the new orange slice logo I had just created. At the foot of the page, I put the phone number and address of the store so that the receiver would have them easily accessible.
The Website
To update the website, I created several pages in Adobe XD and did UI testing. Users found the website much easier to navigate and loved the refresh. Many loved the new mascot that was designed based on an image on the original site. Below I have included some of the web pages!
